FAQs

1. If I have a proposal (special workshop or paper) accepted by the programme committee, do I still need to pay the full registration fee?

Yes. All participants are required to pay the registration fee.

 2. Must my proposal for a special workshop or paper focus on the lead theme of Justice, Community and Freedom?

No. "Justice, Community and Freedom" is the main topic of the Congress. But there is no actual requirement for proposals to centre on it alone – we do welcome proposals on all legal philosophical, theoretical and jurisprudential issues, as well as on multi, inter and trans-disciplinary research.

 3. Must I be a legal or social philosopher to take part in the Congress?

Definitely not. A major aim of the Congress is to promote dialogue between theory and practice, as well as between law and other fields.

4. What is a special workshop?

The special workshops have long-since provided the backbone of the IVR World Congress. They might be organised by a single individual or a group of collaborators, and provide a forum for intensive exchange on a particular topic or theme. Workshop convenors are free to organise the workshop sessions as they see fit, and can either invite participants directly or publish an open Call for Papers. All participants in any workshop must register for the Congress.

5. In which languages might I submit a proposal?

English is very much the main language of the congress. We are, however, more than happy to accept proposals (for workshops and papers) in French, German, Italian, Spanish and Romanian.

 6. How do I register for the congress?

To register, please follow the link here to the online registration portal.

7. How do I book my accommodation?

Booking accommodation falls entirely under the attendee’s responsibility. A list of accommodation options is available here.

8. How do I select the excursion that I wish to take?

During the registration process, you will be asked to select one of the five excursion options. Please be aware that spaces may be limited.
